How can a coach help? - Individuals

Even the most experienced CEOs can benefit from a coach. In the same way top athletes need someone to analyse their performance, impart knowledge and inspire them to reach their full potential.

If you’re feeling overwhelmed, need some advice, or have specific goals you want to achieve, a business and executive leadership coach can help.

Benefits

Find a confidant

As a business leader, sounding boards are few and far between. Coaching offers a confidential, safe and supportive space to bounce around ideas and discuss your challenges.

Learn about yourself

We can’t see ourselves as others do. A coach can identify what’s holding you back, offer insight on how you’re perceived, and challenge you to define what really matters.

Change and improve

Honest feedback is rare yet invaluable at an executive level. If your style lacks decisiveness or you’re missing the bigger picture, a coach will let you know and give you the tools to change.

Get unstuck

Know what you want but don’t know how to get there? Sometimes all it takes is a fresh perspective to make the journey less daunting. A coach will work with you to translate your values into practical steps.

Questions to ask a coach

How can you tell if a coach is right for you? Check you have a good rapport and establish their credentials with these questions:

  • What is your business, leadership and coaching experience?
  • What accreditations do you have? Qualifications to look out for include those relevant to the three areas of business, leadership and coaching
  • What coaching model(s) do you use? This will give you an idea of how flexible the sessions will be.
  • Can you provide references? (Although, due to confidentiality this one can be tricky, it is achievable.)
  • Do you have professional indemnity? This should be a mandatory requirement.
  • How will you make the process fun? You can’t learn effectively unless it’s enjoyable.
  • Do you have a coaching supervisor? (Any credible coach will have a supervisor. Supervision helps the coach with their development, wellbeing and their practice, to the benefit of their clients.)

TESTIMONIALS

While I always respect the confidentiality of my clients, a few have granted me permission to share their thoughts.

“Alan's an excellent coach - straight to the point whilst allowing time to reflect and explore possibilities. He helped me unblock a number of issues and swiftly got things motoring again!. Thanks Alan!.”
"Alan has been working with my company for the last 12 months and has assisted us in making some pretty bold progressive changes and helped us to identify and see the end goal. I would have no hesitation to recommend him to a business considering growing, as I know that he will be able to add value and become cost neutral."
"Alan's style of coaching is very practical and inspiring to say the least and I would recommend Alan to anyone seeking professional coaching to reach their next level of achievement personally and professionally."
"The coaching sessions with Alan are relaxed and insightful, but above all relevant and extremely useful. Alan invests time to understand every issue and pushes you to think laterally about the solutions. The result is that I have grown in confidence and understand not only my own behaviour but those around me."
